Winter Show At The Gallery Ends

Jan Toland , Barry Lovegrove, Fred Morne, Rob Deruchie, Shirley Ivison and Tonny Braden with her father Don Fraser 's works and Lucie Kovarova-Weir have ended their 2 month show at Memorial Hall in the Heritage Centre. We surely thank them for bringing together what has been very appreciated by all the folks who have come during this time to view watercolour and acrylic paintings, Fred's delicately carved wristwatch and lovely angel, along with Rob's compelling animals skillfully hewn out of single pieces of cherry or perhaps pine . However not everything was done with a chain saw. You must have noticed a gorgeous lamp with a beautifully and delicately carved eagle.

Come Oct when the Studio Tour will be on you will be able to go to Lucie's home and studio and possibly watch as she shows you (as she showed me) the intricasies of making her delightful and humorous beads and lovely jewellery.

Shirley's 3 fibre art pieces were loved as were Barry 's watercolours . I'll be surprised if two of them are still there when I arrive tomorrow. Of Course Jan is to be congratulated on the sale of 2 of hers . So we did well and are grateful to the artists who willingly show their work at this venue. Next week end another show will open to surprise and delight.

Have you seen the Latest?

Roely DeVries tells The Tweed News that Tim Porter, a former Tweed resident and cross- country actor is going to be producing 3 musicals at the T&AAC new Arts Centre . There will be one show in May; another in July and yet another in August.
About this I am really excited and I hope everyone else is also. Watch for more information about this opportunity here in Tweed.

Memorial Hall Gallery

March 15,2010

The Art Show is hung and the book launch is already to go on Saturday, March 20th from 2 to 4 pm. Maia Heissler's book "Wild Things for the Soul" describes her relationship with her Forest Friends, an exhibition which is enchanting ,delightful, and a joy to behold. Such creativity of imagination and skill in application is wonderful to see. Children and adults alike will be entranced so I hope you will not miss this opportunity to meet the author and creator .

On Saturday, you will also meet the artists whose watercolour, and acrylic paintings are refreshing and lovely in their variation of style. Barb Bering from Tweed , Carl Reid from Belleville and Bob McIntosh from Oak Hill willingly display their canvasses for us to view during these 2 months of the Early Spring Show at the Memorial Hall in the Tweed and Area Heritage Centre.

For the opportunity to show our work and thus gain exposure at no cost to us artists we always have to be grateful to the curator of the Centre, Evan Morton.
